Daily maintenance of twin-screw extruder

Feb 18, 2025|

The daily maintenance of twin-screw extruder mainly includes the following aspects:

Daily cleaning and inspection: Regularly clean the outside and inside of the twin-screw extruder to remove dust, oil and plastic residues. Pay special attention to cleaning the electrical system and production site, keep it clean and ventilated, and prevent dust accumulation.

Lubricate all moving parts: Lubricate all moving parts to ensure smooth operation of the machine. Regularly check and replace lubricating oil to ensure the normal operation of the lubrication system.

Tighten loose threaded parts: Regularly check and tighten loose threaded parts to prevent machine failure caused by looseness.

Check the motor and control instrument: Check the working status of the motor and adjust the control instrument to ensure its normal operation. Regularly calibrate the temperature control instrument to check the correctness of its adjustment and the sensitivity of the control.

Prevent debris from entering the hopper: Prevent metal or other debris from falling into the hopper to avoid damaging the screw and barrel. Magnetic components or magnetic racks can be installed at the entrance of the hopper to prevent debris from entering.

Avoid running without a car: Twin-screw extruders are not allowed to run without a car to avoid wear on the screw and barrel. The speed should not exceed 100 rpm when the machine is running idle, and check for abnormal sounds.

Shutdown maintenance: When the extruder needs to be stopped for a long time, anti-rust grease should be applied to the working surfaces of the screw, barrel, and die. Small screws should be suspended in the air or placed in a special wooden box, and padded with wooden blocks to avoid deformation or damage.
