Working Principle Of Rubber Machine

Mar 11, 2025|

The working principle of rubber machinery varies mainly according to the structure and function of different types of equipment. The core includes the shearing, extrusion, plasticization, mixing and molding of rubber. The following is a classification analysis of the working principle of common rubber machinery:

Open rubber mixer

Working principle: The raw rubber or rubber is pulled into the roller gap through the friction between two rollers rotating at different speeds, and is subjected to strong shearing and extrusion to increase plasticity. The difference in roller surface roughness is the key - the roughness of the barrel wall increases friction, and the smooth surface of the screw reduces friction, ensuring the effective advancement of the rubber.

Application: It is mainly used for pretreatment processes such as hot refining, sheeting, and plasticization. It has a simple structure and has been used since the 19th century.
Closed rubber mixer

Working principle: The rubber is stirred, folded and kneaded by the rotor in a closed room, dispersed and mixed by shearing, and oxidized chain breaking to improve plasticity. Adding a pressing device (such as an upper push bolt) enhances the mixing effect.
‌Features‌: Compared with open equipment, it is more efficient and less polluting, suitable for large-scale plasticizing and mixing.
Extruder
‌Core process‌: The screw rotates to plasticize and compress the rubber in the barrel and then extrude it from the die to form it. According to the feeding method, it is divided into hot feeding (pre-mixed rubber is required) and cold feeding (unheated rubber is used directly).
‌Key parameters‌: Screw diameter, aspect ratio (L/D), compression ratio, etc. affect the degree of mixing and production capacity. For example, the larger the aspect ratio, the more fully the rubber is sheared.
‌Application‌: It is used for continuous molding of products such as treads, inner tubes, and hoses, and can also be used to compound multiple rubbers.
Rubber injection machine
‌Working principle‌: The pre-plasticized rubber is injected into the mold cavity after being metered by the screw, and then vulcanized and formed at high temperature. Its advantage is that it has a high degree of automation and is suitable for products with complex shapes (such as seals and soles).
‌Features‌: Combining pre-plasticization with high-pressure injection, it shortens the vulcanization cycle and improves the quality consistency of thick-walled products.
Rubber deburring machine
Working Principle: Use centrifugal force to separate the rotating rubber products from the burrs, replacing the traditional freezing or manual trimming process. Achieve efficient deburring through aerodynamic design.
Summary: Different rubber machines complete rubber processing through specific physical actions (shearing, extrusion, centrifugation, etc.). For example, the closed rubber mixer improves efficiency by kneading the rotor in a closed environment, while the extruder relies on screw propulsion to achieve continuous molding. The type of equipment needs to be selected according to production needs. For example, a rubber injection machine can be selected for high-precision products, and a rubber deburring machine is suitable for large-scale trimming.
